Ever wonder what those symbols on your clothes tags mean?
It's laundry day and you never know how to wash that piece of clothing so you look at the tag and see those little symbols with sometimes very vague instructions in 12 different languages. (I'm all for inclusion.)
So today happens to be my laundry day and I'm about to wash a puffy jacket and on the puffy jacket care tag there's a link to what seems to be a website. I type it in and voila! I'm brought to a site that has so much information on how to wash your clothes efficiently so as to save on resources and money! It felt so exhilarating and satisfying to learn that this website has not just the symbols and their definition but they also have tips and recommendations and all across the lands one can hear my mind being blown away by this awesome information. Upon hindsight it's not much of a surprise as there's probably regulation that clothes have to have on their wash instructions. In any case, I am pleasantly satisfied. But why has it taken me so many years to come across this website? Why isn't this information more available? And why am I so intrigued?
Marine debris has been such a prominent topic lately and doing laundry contributes to ocean pollution; microfibers from clothes enter waterway where a substantial percentage ultimately reaches the ocean. (In terms of resources, I've heard that you don't wash clothes as often to preserve the integrity of the cloth, not to mention washing machines can take a lot of water). Check out the "Marine Debris" tab on the left sidebar to learn more about marine debris.
Here is the link so please check it out and be amazed!
