Welcome to my travel blog
Hello there- thanks for stopping by! My name is Kei Lin (pronounced k-lynn) and I hope you enjoy reading my rambles.
I attended Semester at Sea during their fall 2014 voyage. It was incredibly exciting to sail around the Atlantic Ocean while doing academics and to set sail for an adventure of a lifetime. Two years later in June 2016, I graduated University of California, Irvine with a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (zot zot). I came to Oregon State University (go beavs) in August 2016 and completed the Marine Resource Management graduate certificate before pursuing an M.A. degree in Environmental Arts and Humanities and completed the degree in 2020.

More about me
I'm Southern California-born and raised but I'm pretty well-versed in travel. I've been to countless National Parks including but not limited to Crater Lake, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon. Internationally, I've been to London, Greece, Ecuador/Galapagos Islands, China, and the 13 different countries from my SAS adventure. It's extremely humbling to experience so many places and cultures.
I love art, especially photography. Traveling gives me amazing opportunities for pictures of all sorts. Pictures capture moments that may be difficult to explain just in words (I mean, they are worth a thousand of them, right?). I've been getting back into ceramics and learning the ways of watercolor. I've also been getting my feet wet in graphic design which has been fun and rewarding so far.
I enjoy marine biology and the education component of it. I've been inspired by oceanic life since 7th grade and have volunteered at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and Aquarium of the Pacific (see more in the "Special Thanks" tab). I'm hoping that I can further expand my desire of communicating ocean science through my graduate research.

As for the blog title
It's based off my favorite poem written by Robert Frost. The Road Not Taken was introduced to me at my elementary school graduation and it's become my go-to motto; do something that nobody else has done and a live a life that no one else can. Sure, other people ventured these exact locations but here's the catch; the ocean currents never bring the same water back twice (written in reference to when I started the blog for Semester at Sea). Thus, a perfectly suited title if you ask me.
